Optimization of joining HDPE rods by continuous drive friction welding

Abstract Continuous drive friction welding (CDFW) is a solid-state joining procedure that can be used to join various similar and dissimilar materials. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) thermoplastic replace many traditional Utilizing experimental design procedures such as response surface method (RSM) reliable approach for determining the most significant process parameters optimizing desired responses. The current study employed an RSM investigate effects of HDPE rods using CDFW. evaluated three outcome responses: maximum temperature, axial shortening, tensile strength (TS). combination responses allow achieving high-efficiency welds. results showed it was possible achieve welds while maintaining shortening controlling temperature. A TS >65% parent material's with <3 mm achieved.
